Matilda and the Cat

 Bonjour tout le monde...

I hope you are all well. I'm just doing a little post today as it's another repeat make, but worthy of a few pics because of the details.

A few weeks back I spend some time making my Megan Neilsen Matilda dress pattern fit properly, so I thought it out to be used again...this time with a more autumnal feel. And by autumnal I mean a bit Halloween. Black cats and all that.

I'd been hoarding this Feline Fine fabric from Minerva (please note my code has now changed to MSS244EC should you wish to have 10% off anything). October seemed the perfect time to get it made up.

Curse of the second make struck again and despite it being identical in pattern, this one turned out a little wonky in places. It's not so bad to be a problem though, just baggy pockets and a wonky waist, hence the belt!

There's a few fun elements in this dress I thought I would share.

Hidden cats!

I used some Sew Anonymous labels to jazz up the pockets a bit and add some little hidden details. A little peeking cat on the left side...

...and a poking paw on the right!
I also changed the fabric slightly in fabric, drawing a little pink nose and stripe to a few of the cats to make it resemble my cat Bagel. There is one above on the pocket :)

The buttons are some soft pearly pink ones from the stash, they reminded me of cat noses. Until my husband said all he could see was cat buttholes. And now I can't unsee it. Thanks for that.

The dress got finished in time for Halloween..not that I was really doing anything it just seemed an appropriate target! I did wear it all day so that's a win.

I feel like this needs to be a bit shorter if I'm wearing tights and boots, the proportions seem a bit off - let me know what you think.  Should I cut it?

Just a gal and her spider Ernest having a quiet afternoon...
